Lampang River Retreat is the current name of the property previously listed as Lampang River Lodge. Its appeal is a garden-and-lake resort stay beside the Wang River, outside the compact centre of Lampang. The setting suits a visit that pairs Wat Phra That Lampang Luang with time at the accommodation, while recent guest reports show that room condition and mattress comfort deserve individual attention.

The new name belongs to the same Lampang property

SERENATA’s current hotel collection identifies Lampang River Retreat at 330 Moo 11 in Chompoo. Traveloka explicitly notes that it was previously named Lampang River Lodge, and the older Agoda hotel URL now identifies the retreat. This is a name update for the same accommodation, not a second hotel to count separately.

The group describes 29 rai of grounds arranged around a lotus lake, with the Wang River alongside. The distinction between the lake and the river is important when choosing an outlook. A Lakeview room should not be interpreted as a guaranteed direct Wang River view, even though the resort itself is riverside.

This arrangement gives a reason to stay beyond the hours spent visiting temples. Someone wanting the city’s evening streets immediately outside the room should compare an urban guesthouse instead. The resort’s greenery and space are a different proposition from a central address.

The room names describe different amounts of space

The current SERENATA page lists Lanna House at 29 square metres, Lanna Superior at 41, Royal Lanna Deluxe at 56 and Lakeview Deluxe with Balcony at 47. The collection therefore spans compact accommodation and more spacious layouts. Those measurements are published category descriptions, not a promise that every room in the resort is large.

The Lakeview category specifically names a balcony and lotus-pond outlook. That is a useful distinction for travellers who want to spend part of the afternoon sitting at the room. A larger interior and an outdoor sitting area solve different needs; choose the feature that matches the intended stay rather than reading the category names as a simple ladder of quality.

Family-labelled accommodation also appears in the room collection. Its name alone does not establish the bed arrangement or occupancy for a particular family. The actual category and booking arrangement remain more informative than applying the word family to any large Lanna-style room.

Guest comfort reports are not uniform

A May 2026 Expedia guest appreciated the large bungalows, setting and pool but found the mattress too hard; their travelling companion thought the bed was acceptable. That single account neatly illustrates a personal comfort difference without requiring a blanket verdict on every bed.

Another 2026 guest thought their room required major refurbishment, while an August 2026 guest was pleased with the room and air conditioning. These are separate stays with different assessments, so the attractive garden setting should not be used to imply a uniform room condition. The current room category and recent photographs matter if interior finish is a firm priority.

The food reports also vary. A May 2026 guest praised dinner, whereas a February 2025 guest liked the property and staff but was disappointed by the restaurant. The resort offers on-site dining, but those experiences should remain attributed opinions rather than a promise about the next menu or meal.

The hotel and temple are linked by a road trip

The official resort group includes Wat Phra That Lampang Luang among the surrounding attractions. That makes it a relevant base for this site’s Lampang chapter. It is still a separate journey to the Ko Kha temple, not a religious building inside the resort grounds or a walk inferred from the word nearby.

The property lists a pool beside the lake and more than one dining space, including a riverside venue. They support a slower stay after the temple outing. Leave time for the return journey if using an arranged driver, particularly when the day also includes Lampang city.

Lampang River Retreat fits travellers who want a garden resort with northern architectural styling and are comfortable travelling out for sights. The choice is less convincing if it depends on every room having the same recent finish or a soft mattress. Its current identity, category distinctions and mixed comfort reports provide a more useful basis for deciding than the old Lodge name alone.
