Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Compare Anantara Chiang Mai Resort’s Deluxe and pool suites, separate serviced-suite location and current family-room rules before choosing a riverside stay.

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort puts contemporary rooms and suites beside the Mae Ping River, with the former British consulate building used for dining. Choosing the accommodation is more involved than selecting garden or river view: pool suites and separate serviced suites create different stays, and the resort’s family-room rules rule out some assumed combinations.

The resort and serviced suites are different settings

The current official range includes 50-square-metre Deluxe rooms with garden or river aspects, a balcony or terrace, and separate bath and rain shower. The suite range extends beyond the older Kasara description, and the hotel now also presents pool suites. A general resort photograph should not be used to infer that a Deluxe includes a private pool.

The official Pool Suite description gives 140 square metres, a private courtyard, plunge pool and heated whirlpool. That is a distinct category with its own outdoor arrangement. The serviced suites, by contrast, are across the road and linked by a walkway. They offer a different arrangement for families or longer stays rather than being another name for a riverside resort room.

This review concerns Anantara Chiang Mai Resort. If a booking shows Anantara Chiang Mai Serviced Suites, check its separate property identity and accommodation location rather than assuming the room sits in the same riverside block. Shared access to resort facilities does not remove that geographical distinction.

Family room rules need an explicit decision

The resort’s official FAQ says it has no connecting rooms, although adjoining rooms can be requested. Adjoining does not provide the internal door that some families need. The same FAQ says extra beds are not provided in Deluxe categories for safety reasons; they can be requested in Kasara Suites.

These limits are more useful than a general family-friendly description. Two adults and a child needing a separate bed cannot assume that a spacious Deluxe will take one. A family wanting independent bedrooms may need a different category or the separately located serviced suites, with that location understood before booking.

Riverside dining is a reason to use the property

The heritage 1921 House, formerly the British consulate, is a dining venue within the resort. Breakfast is served at Bodhi Terrace by the river. The distinction matters architecturally: the entire accommodation block is not a converted historic consulate. It combines a preserved house with contemporary resort buildings.

An August 2026 Trip.com guest particularly liked the garden, pool, room and breakfast service. The listing’s category label and the guest’s description of the room do not perfectly match, so the experience should not be treated as a specification for every Deluxe. The useful evidence is that the guest spent time using the resort rather than simply sleeping there.

A river view does not guarantee silence

A July 2025 Tripadvisor guest reported intrusive bass sound from across the river and difficulty sleeping. That is a dated individual account, not proof of a current nightly schedule or noise in every room. It is nevertheless relevant when an outdoor river aspect is the main reason for choosing the property.

A March 2026 Tripadvisor guest praised staff and facilities but was disappointed with the restaurants, especially the steakhouse. A June guest on the same page liked breakfast and service. Those are separate experiences; attractive dining spaces and a strong breakfast account do not establish that every meal will satisfy the same traveller.

Keep the temple journeys separate

The Charoen Prathet Road address provides a riverside city base outside the Old City walls. Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang are separate journeys within a Chiang Mai day, while Doi Suthep requires the mountain road. The resort is most compelling when its river setting, dining spaces or a specific suite arrangement form part of the trip, rather than when the only requirement is a room beside an Old City temple.
