Compare Banthai Village’s room sizes and courtyard setting with guest accounts of stairs, high beds, mosquitoes and evening dining near Tha Phae.

Banthai Village Hotel occupies a side street off Tha Phae Road, between the Old City approach and Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar area. It offers an intimate courtyard-and-pool layout rather than a large resort campus. The room floor and access arrangement matter here, particularly for guests who find stairs difficult or need an easy route to the bed.

The room categories occupy different floors

The official room page lists Superior rooms at 28 square metres with garden views on the first through third floors. Deluxe rooms are 32 square metres with garden or pool aspects on the first and second floors. Junior Suites are 40 square metres with pool views, while the Banthai Suite is 55 square metres on the second floor.

The floor references are useful because an April 2026 Superior guest reported no lift and staff helping carry luggage. That account supports checking access to the actual room, rather than assuming every courtyard hotel is entirely at ground level. Luggage assistance also does not provide the same access as a lift for someone who cannot use stairs.

The larger Banthai Suite offers a different amount of living space from a Superior room. Its title should not be interpreted as a two-bedroom apartment or an automatic family arrangement. Choose the actual sleeping and bathing layout, especially where another platform uses Junior Suite and Banthai Suite differently in a guest’s account.

The pool is the shared centre, not a private facility

Booking.com describes an outdoor pool with loungers and umbrellas. A March 2026 Superior guest regarded it as small but sufficient, while a May guest liked the greenery and breakfast beside the pool. The courtyard gives the accommodation a place to pause between city visits without making it an extensive swimming resort.

A December 2025 guest who described a duplex room liked the balcony and poolside restaurant but found its evening closing earlier than they wanted. That is a useful dated account for a traveller hoping to spend the whole evening at the hotel. It does not establish a permanent current closing time, and the Tha Phae and Night Bazaar setting allows a different dining pattern.

Guest comfort includes a few concrete access points

The April 2026 Superior guest praised the bed and daily cleaning but noted that the bed was unusually high and mosquitoes were bothersome. The same account described help with luggage. These are practical details for someone who finds climbing into a high bed or carrying cases upstairs difficult, without establishing the arrangement of every category.

Other guests describe the accommodation as comfortable and welcoming. A September 2026 Superior guest particularly liked the location near Tha Phae Gate. The May guest praising a suite is labelled Junior Suite but calls it Banthai Suite in the account, so that praise cannot establish the exact specifications of either category. Keep the hotel’s own room descriptions as the basis for comparing their size and floor.

The address helps organise an Old City day

The hotel is at 19 Tha Phae Road, Soi 3, outside the Old City’s eastern edge. It can support a trip combining central temples with the evening bazaar area. Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Singh are inside the walls, so allow for the streets and crossings between the accommodation and the temples rather than presenting either as part of the hotel compound.

Doi Suthep is a different trip up the mountain road. Banthai Village’s value for this collection is its city position and northern-style courtyard character, not proximity to every temple across Chiang Mai. Someone who wants a quieter hotel-focused afternoon can use the pool; someone wanting a larger range of leisure facilities may prefer another kind of property.

A compact city stay with the layout in view

Banthai Village suits travellers who appreciate a small pool, planted spaces and a side-street location between two useful city areas. Its clearest qualification is access: floor, stairs and the height of the bed should matter more than the category’s name alone. Those details help distinguish an appealing photograph from a practical fit for the people staying.
