Bodhi Serene Chiang Mai Hotel

Bodhi Serene Chiang Mai Hotel review: garden-facing Deluxe rooms, Executive and suite options, poolside dining and specific guest maintenance reports.

656 words · 4 min read · Editorial date 11 June 2025

Bodhi Serene Chiang Mai Hotel has a useful combination for a temple-focused stay: an address inside the Old City and rooms looking towards a planted courtyard. The Deluxe category offers a garden-facing balcony and a bathtub, while the Executive and suites add different amounts of room. The character is more traditional than minimal, with some older guest accounts identifying maintenance and lighting concerns.

A southern Old City address

The hotel gives its location as 110 Ratchaphakhinai Road, within Chiang Mai’s historic centre. This supports a stay organised around Old City temples and everyday town facilities rather than a remote resort. Wat Chedi Luang is the more natural focus of this chapter; Wat Phra Singh can be another Old City visit, while the forest temple of Wat Umong and Doi Suthep’s mountain approach need separate transport.

A Deluxe guest staying in April 2025 praised the room size and pool, and noted the convenience of a shop across the road. That kind of everyday convenience may matter more on a multi-night temple trip than adding another facility inside the hotel. The same account found the bed firm, which is a personal comfort judgement rather than a universal drawback.

A balcony, a daybed or a larger suite

The official Deluxe description specifies 40 square metres, hardwood flooring and a private balcony extending towards the tropical garden. Its listed bathroom facilities include a bathtub and shower. That gives a clear reason to choose this category if spending time outside the bedroom or having a bath matters, rather than relying only on the hotel’s overall style.

The Executive Double is listed separately at 45 square metres with a king bed and a daybed that the hotel describes as usable by a small child. That should not be mistaken for the Executive Triple, which has its own bed arrangement. A daybed’s possible use is also not a promise that any party of three can share under the same occupancy and meal conditions.

The One Bedroom Suite is a further step at 58 square metres with a king bed. The official collection also includes a two-bedroom option, making it possible to consider more than a slightly larger conventional room. The larger categories are relevant when the room is part of a longer stay, although extra floor area does not settle the route to it or the condition of a particular fixture.

Superior descriptions on the hotel’s site give a range of 25–32 square metres, while some overview material shortens that to a single figure. The more cautious reading is that not every Superior room has identical space. This is a reason to keep the exact category and layout in view rather than treating a headline size as a guarantee.

A poolside break and a meal in the hotel

The Bodhi Restaurant offers northern Thai and international dishes overlooking the swimming pool. The hotel also lists massage, laundry and parking among its services. These make the property more useful between city outings, but do not imply a destination resort with a full programme of entertainment.

The official airport-transfer description requires flight information in advance and sets a service window. It should therefore be understood as an arrangement to organise, rather than an automatic car waiting for every flight. This distinction is particularly relevant for a late arrival before a day of temple visits.

Read room reports with their dates attached

A February 2026 Deluxe guest praised a clean, functional room and enjoyed the pool after walking around town. A Superior guest from November 2025 had a different experience, reporting a faulty tap and kettle and disappointment about the available beds. These were specific stays in different categories; they do not establish a current fault in every room.

A November 2024 review also mentions a dim interior, and a December 2023 guest reported the absence of lifts. A traveller for whom bright task lighting or avoiding stairs is essential should establish the proposed room’s actual arrangement. Bodhi Serene is a stronger match for someone who values a garden-facing Old City room and pool than for someone seeking an entirely contemporary, uniformly accessible building.
